Introduction to Arabic and Persian calligraphy course on January 17, 2022
Come and learn the art of the Arab and Persian calligrapher. You will discover the handling of the calame and the writing of the Naskh. The فارسی (Farsi) or Persian uses the 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet and adds 4 more, so it has 32 characters.
The workshop is led by Mohammad, master calligrapher and illuminator. Mohammad is from Herat, an important city in western Afghanistan close to the borders of Iran and Turkmenistan, once the capital of Khorassan ("place where the sun comes from" denoting its intellectual wealth), considered as Medieval Afghanistan. He learned his art in the same city from his masters Akhond Mohammad Ali and Said Mashal, one of the great Persian calligraphers of the second half of the twentieth century.
Course duration of 2 hours from 10am to 12pm. It is not necessary to be an Arabic or Persian speaker. In order to ensure that this course takes place in the best possible conditions, it cannot accommodate more than 6 people. This introduction to the art of Arabic and Persian calligraphy can only be done once.
